How fit do I need to be for a skiing trip?

It depends on the trip — every expedition lists its difficulty on the trip page. As a rule, skiing trips with Loaf are difficult on purpose. Expect a short call before you commit so we can tell you honestly whether it's right for you.

Are skiing trips guided by a real athlete?

Yes. Every Loaf expedition is led by the athlete whose name is on it — in person, on the route, for the difficult parts. Not a hired guide, and not a guest appearance.

Do I need to apply, or can I just book?

You apply. The group is picked because the wrong person on a difficult trip ruins it for everyone. There's a short call after your application before you commit.

# **(1) Macedonia With A Champion** Join Iris Pessey, 5x French Champion, for a private guided ski touring expedition. This February she is taking 12 skiers into the Shar Mountains of North Macedonia. A range most skiers have never heard of, and almost no one ever tours. She set the women's record for climbing Mont Blanc from Chamonix, 5 hours and 2 minutes. Days are spent climbing on skins and skiing off-piste: Korab, the highest mountain in the country, plus Bistra, Jablanica and Galichica. 2 of the days are snowcat-assisted. Expect 700 to 2,200 m of climbing a day, so you need to be fit and comfortable off-piste. Ohrid and proper Macedonian mountain food are part of it.
