How fit for Macedonia?

A small group. A hard route. Days that ask something real of you. We handle the plans before you get there. You bring the work — and the people you share it with. Here's what that means in practice, day by day.

What it asks, day by day.

Day 1

You land at Skopje Airport. I'll meet you there. Then we drive by minibus into the mountains, about 1.5 hours, to Hotel Scardus & SPA. If there's time, we'll hold a group briefing and run through the week. You'll get your avalanche safety gear. Then settle in and rest. Outside, the mountains wait in the dark.

Day 2

Day two is our first day of catskiing. Breakfast at 07:30, then gear up by 08:45. We check the snowcat and your beeper. First run at 09:00. The cat takes you up, you ski down. Untouched backcountry, all day. Lunch comes on the mountain. We finish near 16:00. Then SPA, the bar, and dinner at 19:00. Fresh tracks, deep snow.

Day 3

Day 3. Same rhythm. Snowcat up, ski down. Lunch waits for us on the mountain. We finish by 16:00. Each morning I pick the best terrain with the guides. We read the snow, the slopes, the risk. No two days are the same here. Back at the hotel, the SPA and bar wait. Fresh tracks, every single run.

Day 4

Day three on the snowcat. By now you'll read the snow well. You'll trust the terrain under your skis. The cat takes you up, you ski down. We make the most of Macedonia's wild backcountry. Fresh lines, fresh powder, all day. Come evening, you'll rest. Hit the SPA. Let your legs go quiet while the mountain stays loud in your head.

Day 5

Day four on the snowcat. By now you know the drill. The cat takes you up, you ski down. Deep powder, wide open faces, and runs through the trees. We ski hard until around 16:00. Then unwind with a massage, or just sit by the bar before dinner. Tired legs, big grins.

Day 6

Day six splits the team. The Core group eats breakfast, then transfers back to Skopje Airport. Your trip ends there. The Extended group stays on. With fewer of us, the mountain feels bigger and the pace slows down. You'll rest, recover, and get set for two more days on the snowcat. Quiet snow, more space, more lines.

Day 8

Day 8 is goodbye. We wake up and eat breakfast one last time. Then you'll join the team for the transfer back to Skopje International Airport. The trip ends here. But the deep powder, the wide faces, and those quiet Macedonian mountains stay with you. You carry them home in your legs and your head.

Good questions

How fit do I need to be for Macedonia?

This trip is demanding. See the day-by-day breakdown on this page for what it asks. Expect a short call before you commit so we can tell you honestly whether it's right for you.

Am I too slow for Macedonia?

Group trips aren't races. Filip Flisar sets a standard you need to meet, not a pace you need to beat. If you can meet the standard, you belong. The call before you commit is where we settle it.

What if I'm not fit enough yet?

Apply anyway and tell us where you're at. Trips are scheduled months ahead, and after you join the team you get a training plan and a kit list. Many participants arrive a different athlete than they applied as.
